Peace is the result of retraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be.

'I can't meditate, I can't switch off'
- If I had a £ for every time I heard that...

Do you often find yourself going though the motions but not feeling connected to what is really happening? Have you ever driven home, mind elsewhere, and upon arrival thought 'how did I get here?' Do you find it difficult to concentrate and find your mind wandering when trying to listen or focus? Do you have trouble sleeping and being able to switch off?

Meditation is something everyone can do, even you.

Contrary to popular belief, meditation doesn't require you to 'stop thinking'. There are various types of meditation, and I believe there is a style and practice to suit everyone. Meditation isn't about trying to turn off your thoughts, but it can help you organise your thoughts, calm a busy or anxious mind and help you focus on what is most important, giving you the ability to cultivate moment-to-moment awareness of yourself and your environment.. A regular meditation practice is one of the best ways to look after your mental health and become impenetrable to the madness that is life in 2022.

Meditation is the habitual process of training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts.

Those who practice meditation regularly are not shy about shouting the benefits of how it helped them, and even the most unlikely of practitioners can become a total convert. Meditation isn't a religious practice, nor is it something that is just for spaced out hippies. Meditation is used, from CEO's to athletes, to aid with productivity and performance. There has been a great deal of research into meditation over recent decades, and according to neuroscientific research, mindfulness practices dampen activity in our amygdala and increase the connections between the amygdala and prefrontal cortex - what this means is that both these parts of the brain help us to be less reactive to stressors and to recover better from stress when we experience it. And these changes don't end when your meditation session ends. Meditation can help carry you more calmly through your day, as these changes are long lasting and can be life changing.

Being able to tap into an awareness of the present moment is like a super power.

Being able to stop anger in its tracks, recognising and being able to change unhealthy thought patterns and stopping yourself before you enter into unhelpful habits, are all possible using the tools learned in a regular meditation and mindfulness practice.

There are multiple methods and ways to include meditation into your life. If you are interested in understanding more about meditation and how it can help you, I offer mindfulness meditation consultations where I can assist you in discovering a meditation practice that you feel comfortable with and that targets your specific requirements.

I am also excited to be launching a monthly membership of 'The Peace Society' - my exclusive members only community for regular online meditations, keeping you on the right track. The Peace Society is launching in 2023, sign up to my newsletter to be notified when a select number of places open up.
